The Scottish Newfoundland
Club Working Group was
established in Fife around 2000. We specialise in training Newfoundland dogs to
retrieve, tow and save lives in the water.
In addition, our friendly
members are here to answer any questions you may have about the group and our
activities. If we do not know the answer, we will not guess. We will seek out
the answer, and get back to you.
If you have any questions or
would like to speak with a Scottish Newfoundland Club Working Group member
regarding our events, please come along to Loch Ore and join the fun
At The Scottish Newfoundland
Club Working Group, the dog always comes first.
WHAT YOU NEED
A Newfoundland dog....
The dog can be of any age.
A half choke
collar and web lead is best.
A floating and a sinkable toy.
Some dogs
need a buoyancy aide. There are several on the market, so feel free to seek out the most suitable for your dog.
Kit yourself out with either a wetsuit or a
drysuit, so long as it is thick enough to keep you warm.
Remember to get
suitable footwear and gloves.
Finally, and essentially, get yourself a buoyancy
jacket. You won’t be allowed into the water without one.
The Working group have some second-hand
equipment that newcomers can borrow. Lochore Country Park rent suits for all
sizes.
