Carting

Newfoundlands originally carted barrels and provisions to the boats for fishermen. They then went on the boats and acted as lifesavers, should anyone fall overboard. The carts have changed in shape and size, but the dogs are happy to pull a cart for fun. It's relatively easy moving forward, but try backing up - there is a knack.

Dogs must be over 15 months old to take part in carting.

The Christmas Party was cancelled so some of our members made a trip to Loch Ore Meadows on 6th December 2009 to share some soup, mince pies and carting with their newfies. It was a pleasant afternoon with the weather being extremely kind to us.

We got together again for carting on the 1st Sunday in February. This time Laura Spence came along. She is working on a photography course and asked if she could put her pictures on our site. She has some cracking shots of what was another gid day oot !
